How do I clean the aptitude command cache under Ubuntu?
Over a period of time the system cache will build up lots of data that no longer exist in repositories.
Running the two command listed above allows you to trim down the crud and keep the cache small and tidy.
$ apt-get aptitude clean
$ apt-get aptitude autoclean
